Volunteers
What is Interfaith Volunteer Caregiving?
Our volunteers are trained men, women, young adults and youth who give non-medical support. This program unites the spirit, energy, strength and human resources of many faith congregations. Among participating congregations, volunteers share their personal gifts and provide specific care that is matched to a neighbor's need.
What Services do Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers Provide?
Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers may:
• Visit a person with special needs.
• Drive a person for routine medical treatment.
• Shop for a homebound person.
• Call a lonely person,
• Assist a visually impaired person.
• Relieve a primary caregiver.

Respite volunteers attend an intensive training program that focuses on a
basic overview of AD and related dementia, typical behaviors and how to deal
with them, effective communication techniques, caring for the caregiver, and
availability of community resources. In addition, volunteers participate in
ongoing lectures of interest where they have the opportunity to share
experiences and receive support.
