What is Congregational Health/Parish Nursing?
Historically, Parish Nursing is a congregational health ministry shaped by Christ's concern for all aspects of the human condition and directed to the service of the whole person. The Parish Nurse serves as a health educator, resource liaison to community services and health organizations, coordinator of nursing volunteers and a personal health counselor who attends to the body, mind and soul.
What Services do Congregational Health/Parish Nurses Provide?
Parish Nurses provide non-invasive care in their volunteer nursing role as an expression of God's caring to the community. They may:
•Hospital visitation
• Serve as a personal health counselor,
Support the family during crisis.
Set up an information corner in the church or synagogue
Promote wholeness within the congregation/ community through workshops.
